Hey, I think this site should have a credits system.
What for? Well this site does hosting and instead of requiering posts. You should have a credits system so you can subtract credits each time a member gets an upgrade so they have to post to get credits.
This system works real well exaple Posts are worth 3 credits threads are worth 5 credits and refers are 10 credits
Just think about it you wont regret it.

I've seen things like this before. They are nice but can too easily be abused. I would simply say to the admins that if you do it you will have trouble with multiple registers etc on your hands. This won't be pretty!

Credit system is flexible for every one. Someone should transfer his own credit to another to activate trading within forum and credit may link with appropriate e-currency.

I agree.. but from what I know, setting up a credit system is so hard.. Base from my past experience..
but why don't you try the credit system?

Because people post spam and useless topics. Why? So that they can get/maintain hosting. This will multiply tenfold if there were other rewards to be earned.

I disagree with your idea! I mean why should GF get a credit system!? They already offer the best webhosting for free!

^I agree. There's no point in having such a system except to cheat and refer a bunch of useless people.

I very much agree with these two posters:
I used to have a site where we had credits and it was too hard to maintain, many complaints and a big headache.

Thought about a credit/points system. From what I have seen, they typically hand out useless extras, and encourage shady activity, and we already have a very basic credit system, post count.

Maybe one day however. If someone has ideas of what could be offered.

I don't want GF, to have ads, but if it does, (Contextual and Banners Only) I will click on a few to support them! Posting Again, I disagree, with credits, what else can you say with unlimited ftp and mysql? It makes me speechless! But maybe We can have a contest, which the incentives are Professional Hosting accounts or maybe some domain contest each year....

I think points belong in ddboard.com, not here. Here you post for your hosting, that's it

It's simple, it's fast, it's free, credits seem OTT

You should make it that the better (populair/usefull) the topic is the more credits the topicstarter gets for it,
otherwise you only get shitty topics.

No, I think the post count system is better, it is simple to operate and admins can delete posts if you misbehave

I think the post count idea is fantastic, but a credit system, although it might be fun at first, i think it would be very easy to abuse it like mentioned, wouldn't be hard to quickly get 30 odd referrals etc, and even easier to spam for the post credits.
Keep the system the same tbh.

I think that credits isn´t good for us. Post system pay is more afordable. Credits sound a little bit Capitalist, and free is for everyone and all people must do the same effort. Don´t you?

yeah. right now they can provide this service to us with no cost besides the server. if they gave away domains and tshirts or whatever, it would cost far too much and they would close down in a short time.
I'm really glad for the way things work right now!
