Just FYI, here are some of the companies that register domain names for less than $10 per year for a .com registration that are pretty reliable (some will even charge less if you are transferring it from another registration firm)

it cost me SGD$20 so that's roughly around USD$10

and I believe that the lowest domain names can be found at http://www.domainrightnow.com

Oh well if I ever decide to buy a domain name I have to check this list!
 I don't plan buying a domain in near future but it's good to know some cheap domain providers when you come to the point of needing own domain!

Was just checking out the Yahoo domain rego costs etc. it has changed to $9.95/year they also offer hosting which costs $11.95 per month.

Also don't forget when you register a domain name, all your personal details including name, address and telephone number are added to a publicly accessible whois server, which means anyone can find out where you live. Some domain hosts provide for usually .50 cents to $1 extra hidden whois info by instead registering it with their address.
