I prefer Paint.NET. GIMP opens too many windows for my tastes, and it's almost just as complicated as photoshop. Paint.NET isn't quite as complicated.

I use GIMP for it's smudge effect to create things like snow, but other than that, nothing more really. I really have no idea how to do half of the effects in it tongue.gif

Well, I've done BOTH GIMP and Photoshop, but I think Photoshop is so much easier, faster, and a whole lot cooler. Haha. xP

GIMP is great for a free program, but it's kind of complicated, and it's extremely slow when you've got brushes (lots) and it takes me about
a long time to set up. And I also hate how it opens new windows. xP

Photoshop is powerful, but gimp is more powerful. Gimp is a little more on the complex side though.. You have to look deep into things to find what you really want, while photoshop, its all right there in front of you. Being that you can [im not telling you to] get both of them for free, because Gimp is freeware, and photoshop, well im sure we've all been a pirate at one time or another.. But then both being basically free mean that anyone can use them. And now that their fanbases are growing larger every day, i think people are going to go for the one that's a lot easier.

and also, paint.net rocks for how small the file is. when you dont have time to download photoshop or gimp, paint.net is perfect. smile.gif

Its kinda like saying a 9,000$ pc or a free pc, i mean obviously photo shop is better and easier to use, if your poor go for gimp if you have money or pirate it all like me. But not all people will pirate it, go for photoshop.

(And why does every one keep posting in old posts i didn't even realize it was old in till i already had posted)

It's one thing to pirate shit, but its another to openly and publicly brag and advocate the illegal shit. Who doesn't pirate? You wont catch me blubbering on about it everywhere i go tho. grow up.

PhotoShop is superior to Gimp but PhotoShop is $XXX.

Gimp is an amazing effort and its free. If I used Linux I'd use Gimp for most stuff for sure.
