I hate the concept of Global Warming. I don't believe that it fully exists, and even if it were to, then it means nothing.
IF God exists THEN Global Warming is not anything we need to worry about as how it will not affect the world until He begins to pour out his wrath, at which time Global Warming is the least of your concerns. IF God does not exist THEN Global Warming is just another climate shift that our planet has every so often. It's unavoidable, and there's nothing that we can do to stop it. Funny how God makes his way to all of these debates... -------------------- |

Funny how God makes his way to all of these debates... Personally, I think it exists... its just maybe over the past 5 years its been getting world wide attention. That part makes me slightly suspicious of how severe the global warming problem is. But I personally believe it exists. There has certainly been a lot of televised evidence. Take Australia, there is NO Ozone Layer above it! Antarctica, ice bergs continiously falling from heat. There is no doubt humans have helped heat up the planet in a bad way. How severe I don't really know. I don't exactly trust TV totally -------------------- The Free cPanel Host and GrandForums Main Administrator. Sign-up FREE Now!

Manbearpig. I'm super cereal.
----------------------------------- To tell the truth, this just seems like a hoax to me because Gore's an attention whore. Since when did he become a top environmental scientist? Were this an actual problem, wouldn't the environmental scientists gotten to us first? And also: Gore makes a note to kind of show off once the issue is brought up. It's just too convenient for my tastes. -------------------- |

You realize the whole global warming thing is broadcast world wide, its not just the USA being bombarded with Global Warming information.
Most people outside the USA barely even know who Al Gore is (if at all), so thinking its some scheme of Al Gore seems very unlikely. It's more likely he is riding the wave now that global warming has become globally recognized. -------------------- The Free cPanel Host and GrandForums Main Administrator. Sign-up FREE Now!

I do realize this, but I also know that Al Gore's book has been translated into 42 (or maybe it was 75) languages, and he holds seminars worldwide. -------------------- |

Al Gore is an attention whore..But also, have you ever thought about the fact that all this "proof" is either televised, or provided by machines which have no possible way to be sure if global warming exists? I think it's a hoax, and I've even heard someone say it's "Democrat Propaganda, and a scheme to get more U.S. Votes" Which is unlikely, due to the fact that it is Worldwide. Science these days is so clouded by bias and theories, that it's almost impossible to determine what is true.Either way, if this shit's supposed to go down in another 100 million years, you'll just be a lost memory and so will your entire family, so nothing to worry about, right? I've been called an "ignorant" by some very intellectual people for saying this, and no doubt, for posting it I'll get the same thing...
P.S. Pardon my french (shit) and we all die eventually, so once again, what the hell is there to worry about? No earth to be buried in? |

I don't think global warming is just a gore trick for popularity/attention... but I also don't think it's real.
Scientists who point to data saying that global warming is occurring are not showing all the facts. they often only point to the past couple of decades of data... the problem is this. In that time, we have become so much better at measuring global data (through satellites and such) so we could easily be seeing a rise in temperatures only because we can better measure the temp. -------------------- |

Holy cow, i just learned something new, thanks tons for that, I'll use it in a later rant. (Can you find a holy cow somewhere besides India? I don't travel abroad) But that is a VERY good point that I've never thought about. Although it has some faults, if it weren't getting hotter, than how are glaciers melting? (I'm just saying what i think a good comeback for a Global warming nerd would be) |

Because there's no Ozone layer. We have solid proof on that one.

No, it was caused by Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) up until they were banned.

Actually, if you've taken history, we haven't been using oil as a fuel on the large scale until the mid 1900s. The temperature had not risen until the recent decades because we haven't been emitting so much CO2 until recent decades. A there IS proof of global warming. It's the opponents that are not giving all the facts. There is so much proof that it's not practical to explain them all when they are presenting to an audience the facts. Besides, how many people really understand basic chemistry and earth science? It's easier to show things that they can see such as the glaciers melting and the greenhouse effect. |

I understand the chemistry, but I've never heard a chemistry teacher talk about it as if it were a serious topic.

Global Warming is one tricky subject i reckon i personally think that its a global weather shift, from what i recall seeing something from I think on NatGeo apparently the Poles are switching i.e. the north pole will move down and the south pole will move up. They also mentioned something that the earth might lose its magnetic field for a period of a few thousands years and that there is proof of this happening ones before not too long ago. In short i believe its nothing more then a naturally occurring event which we might be contributing to to fasten it up with all the pollution. |
