We've been arguing over many things in here, and 3 of which contain a God vs Non-God sort of stand. It appears that what we're really getting at is the question: Does God exist or not?

I kinda like how the Evolution one turned out, not to mention Christians are usually playing defense here, so I'm going to start this up and let ya'll have at it.

I'll be waiting.

Where's the poll?

And yes God exists.

Yes, God does exist. If not, then I'm positive at least something, some creator, exists out there.

Isn't creator the definition of God?

No poll needed, arguments don't need polls. If this just turns out to be a series of "yes" or "no" posts, then there will be no discussion.

And God is a Creator, but a Creator is not God. God is the Greatest Possible Being.

Alright, I have two proofs:

GREATEST POSSIBLE BEING:
Imagine in your mind something, anything. Something perfect. This is a Good Thing, right? Well, if this thing were to exist, then it would be better than the same thing that you just imagined. (Real A is better than Imaginary A) This is simply because it is real, and in turn has more perfections than the imaginary one, all other things held constant.

Let's take this to be a being. This greatest being, with the most overall perfections possible without compromising another perfection. This being, however, is NOT the greatest possible being. This is because this being is currently existing in your mind. Ergo, the actual greatest possible being exists in reality. We merely call him God.

MATH AND FINAL DESTINATION: (pleasure values)
God-----No God

Believer
Inf.-----0

Atheist
-Inf-----0

What does this mean? Well, if the believer (cool.gif is correct, then he will have eternal pleasure (sum of infinity) after death. If the atheist (A) is right, then he shall get no pleasure from being dead.

If B is wrong, and God does not exits, then he will get no pleasure. However, if A is wrong, he will get an eternity of pain (negative infinity) after death.

The odds are in the favor of Theists.

--------------------------------

I, personally, know that God exists, though I know there is no way I can prove him to you.

I think I will re-read this almost-crazy post again later. I sense flaws all over the place with it.

Yeah, there are holes everywhere more than likely, but some of them just come with the theory. Oh, and the smiley is supposed to be a B in {}.

heh...

I think that anyone who looks around and sees all the wonders of creation would be foolish not to decide that there is a God.
I won't go so far as to say that the amazing universe would lead everyone to believe in the God of the Hebrews, but that IS the logical end to careful study of our world.

In the end though, there is no way to PROVE that there is a God. One can show that the hypothesis of evolution is not well grounded, but science can never actually prove anything. Think of all the scientific "discoveries" that were later shown to be false!
I believe that the only way one can believe in God is if He shows Himself to them. So I can argue and debate until I'm blue in the face, but in the end it's up to God.

I believe one embraces the fact of God, Heaven etc. because ones you are lying there in your bed taking your last breath you want the comfort that there is a better world beyond ours.

I myself aren't religious nor do i have a religion but i still believe and it makes me sleep better at night.

I don't believe simply because I should or I want to make sure my end result is okay, but because He has proven Himself to me.

I have been a Christian most of my life, so much so that I don't remember life beforehand. I was not always strong in the faith, but as I got into high school, I began to question things. So, one day, I woke up and said, "Hey, God, I don't see what all you've been doing for me, so I'm going to live today without you." To make a long story (most of which I don't remember) short, it was the worst first half of a day I've ever had. Why only a first half? Well, it was going so bad that I knew the only way to stop it was repent, so I did. From then on I could feel when God had done something for me, and I grew strong in my faith.

You may not want to believe me, or you may think this is BS, but this is my actual testimony, and I will stick by it until the day that I die.

Well, the definition of God could be debated as well.

Personally, I believe in some universal consciousness/Great Spirit-type thing. Doubt I'll ever be certain, but that's a rough description of my beliefs.

Well, the three dominant religions of today all believe in the same God. Maybe there's something correct about that.

The major problem with this argument is that there is no intrinsic data either way. Science is based off of these sense experiences and observations in order to prove something, but all we can do is say that science has no way of saying whether or not it's there. The only thing that can be concluded about a lack of evidence is that no conclusion can be wrought. Simply because it has no proof, it also has no disproof.
