I don't know about you... but I am just not too sure on the UFO thing.

So many TV documentaries on Aliens, but do they really prove anything?

You can't take a 'maybe' stance tongue.gif

No fair, I want to take a maybe stance. D:

Well, there are organic compounds out there... Fine, I'll side with le aliens. So that's my reason - organic compounds.

But then again ... fine, I'll side.

I don't think there are aliens as in animals, but bacteria might be possible.

You have two reasonings here:

Evolution: The pure chance required for life to form on any planet ever, let alone survive, is just that great to where even if it were physically possible, earth would be the only planet containing life.

Creation: No religion mentions anything about any other planet.

As for an "alien," an alien is defined as a strange or foreign person or object. Therefore, we are all aliens unto one another.

Well obviously from context he means alien as in life from another planet.

But we really don't know from the "evolution" reasoning that Earth is the only planet possible. There could always be a planet far away that has the same conditions as Earth does. But I don't believe it anyway...

When you consider Earth's odds, how perfect everything had to be in order for it to become this way, then you could barely consider the chances of another Earth-like planet anywhere in the universe. Any closer to our sun and Earth probably couldn't keep water in liquid form. Any further and Earth would be like a brown Mars. That's either the best luck any hunk of rock has ever had, or the work of some divinity.

However, even taking the creation aspect out of it, it's still almost impossible that such placement happened more than once. There are too many things that go into life for it to occur just anywhere. Every form of life in our universe exists on this planet, but how people can consider our existence lonely when someone tries to push that statement is well beyond my comprehension.

Again, the chances that evolution started, worked, and happened are just so vastly great, that the with all the planets that there are, even one having life is highly unlikely.

Yes I know, but you can't say the probability of another Earth is flat-out 0. Like I said, I don't believe there exists such a planet, but there still is a chance, however small it may be.

Besides, I'm Christian tongue.gif

I'm a Christian too and that kinda makes be believe that there are no aliens for several reasons.

1. If God made aliens he would have told us smile.gif
2. This earth in this solar system is the only place where living creatures could exist. all other places are just too hostile.

Actually, I can. It is not truly zero, but it's so extremely close that there is no workable difference.

As for the Christian thing, I am, too, but the Christian side isn't really that arguable. He didn't say he made anything else, so we're it.

I agree, though several is roughly 7. Not all other places are vastly too hostile. There have actually been discoveries of copies of earth around the galaxy, but none contain life.

Umm... actually several is not roughly 7, it's not derived from the word "seven," it just means more than 2 (he's still wrong though, lol).

And you can't say it's 0 because we exist right now.

IF the universe is infinitely big.

Then there must be a chance of life elsewhere. It's INFINETELY big.

That's not even possible to imagine. Based on that I say there is life outside earth.

But I'm still not sure. I've seen some wierd things in the sky. Once I saw this light shaped like a rectangle, just hovering in the exact same place in the sky. The day was turning to dusk but their was still plenty of light. I ruled out reflections, or lights from the ground. This orange rectangle shaped light just stayed in the exact position. It's shape was not a plane, I thought perhaps it was one of those choppers that have two propellers, but there was no sound. It was very rectangular, except it was as if someone pushed the top left corner and titled it to the right while keeping the base horizontal to the ground.

None the less these "UFO's"... are they aliens having a laugh by trying to freak out humans or stopping by to watch on their way elsewhere? smile.gif

The spellings of the name were not my basis. It has been brought to my attention that:

couple = 2
few = 5
several = 7
dozen = 12
score = 20

Whether this is a common measurement or not does not bother me. If you wanna argue about it, then make a topic and I'll be there (I'm a debate whore).

Yes, I can say that the probability for evolution to happen is 0 because I do not believe it to be possible. (yet another discussion).

Infinity, eh? Well, were the universe to be infinitely large or not, the chances are still infinitely small (aka 0).

I'm not going to try to explain what that was. What I will say is this: stuff happens. Wierd things happen to me day in and day out, and life goes on. Even today I had a car disappear on me. Completely disappear. That makes it the fourth one.

You may not be able to explain it, but I'm not going to jump to UFOs so quickly.
