... Um right. I think there are already topics on this in here somewhere, but I guess if you didn't feel like looking for them... whatever.

I personally choose Paint.NET over anything, even Photoshop. I find it much simpler to use, and much more functional than GIMP. I like it since it doesn't open all the unecissary windows that GIMP opens. It's kinda like the Firefox of image editing programs, since it opens everything in one window and lets you tab through them for ease of editing. You can download all sorts of extra things like Icon and Cursor extentions to make your own icons and cursors, 3D plugins to make simple 3D shapes, and all sorts of nifty effects, some of which I don't recall seeing in Photoshop CS3. The choice is yours really, but I'm more fond of Paint.NET.

I like GIMP better because it has more features (in my oppinion). I use Paint.NET for some stuff but I still like GIMP better.
The other advantage of GIMP is that it can be used on all OS while I think Paint.NET is windows only.

I've used both, and I really love GIMP.
Paint.NET I'm not sure of how to use, it confuses me, honestly. Haha, I don't get really simple stuff, sometimes, though. I like GIMP better, I honestly think it's like a minature Photoshop, but then again, it's not as great as PS. :]

GIMP, I think, has more advanced stuff you can do. Paint.NET I think is kind of plain, if I could remember it. >.>;

I use gimp on my computer, but my parents won't let me download it on my mom's laptop which I am on 90% of the time. I am going to have to try out paint.net
