Hi everyone, these are my current PC specs,
AMD Athlon™ 64 processor 3000+ 512 MB DDR RAM - PC3200 160GB SATA hard drive SIS Mirage™2 integrated graphics Realtek AC'97 audio SiS 900 integrated fast ethernet I havnt used my PC in a long time as its slow and needs upgrading badly. I cant play the latest games, and also its quite slow to startup, and slow when running multiple applications running at the same time. I dont really want to just add a graphics card, and some DDR RAM into this ones, as the RAM is quite expensive to buy and also DDR 2 is cheaper. Would i be able to take out my existing motherboard, and put in a new one? Or do i need to buy a new case? Can anyone recommend a good Motherboard to buy, and also a graphics card that will allow me to play games like COD 4 etc. Thanks |

This is the bare minimum computer specifications for playing COD4
Minimum System Requirements: - CPU: Pentium 4 2.4GHz Single Core processor - System RAM: 1GB - Video Card: Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 128MB RAM (NVIDIA 6600 or better/ATI X1300 or better, excluding ATI X1550). - Sound Card: 100% direct X 9.0c compatible sound card - Hard disc space: 8GB free space As you can see your cpu is fine the only thing you need is RAM (512mb of it to be precise) and a decent enough graphics card. The RAM will give you a boost in performance (believe me i know i used to have 512mb on my old desktop i used to use and it was going so so till i got another 512mb stick now it runs damn smooth). The internal graphics card you got there is not going to get you much out there game wise, most games these days will ask quite alot of performance from your computer. For your convinience i have underlined the things you need to upgrade to match the minimum COD4 specs. Hope this can help you out in what ever you decide to do. Good luck! P.S: I had a look on how much the graphics card mentioned above costs and it looks pretty reasonable. Here is the site ( http://www.mrgadget.com.au/catalog/gigabyt...ard-p-1081.html ). I'm pretty sure if you had a look around though you could find a much cheaper one!! -------------------- |

Thanks for your reply.
I think i will keep my CPU, and add some more RAM and also a graphics card. Do i need to get a better PSU if i add a new graphics card? |

Not sure you should however check your current PSU you got in the comp see how much power your getting from it and then hit the nearest Comp Shop and ask them about it.
I am running 230-240V PSU in my box and i got a ATI Radeon 9800 in it with Pentium 4 CPU so im guessing head with that sort of Power unit unless you plan to get a really expensive graphics card then you might want to consider something in the range of 300+V Hope this helped you -------------------- |
